Indian Astrology goes by many names such as joytish or jyotisha in the native language. Its origin lies in sanskrit, which is considered origin for many modern sciences. All these names project a common meaning which means light. Indian astrology is divided into three different categories each category has its unique characteristics and usage. Indian astrology covers all major aspects of life such as material life and unique events as war earth quakes political off sets and financial predictions. All these predictions are made by the use of different animal, omen and portents.

As far as the history of the Indian astrology is concerned the its practices are adopted from scriptures such as bandhu of Vedas. The rituals preformed also cover zodiac signs from the western world and the local culture. It has also got a lot to do with the movement of the different planets, location of different stars and the position of moon with the proportion of the light.

Indian Astrology has great influence on the lives of Hindus who practice this art. The new born are named according to these practices. The local religious holidays or celebrations are also intact with the astrology, such as weddings. But now a days a common trend is rising which strongly challenges the ancient believes of Indian Astrology

According to Indian astrology, Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun in the Solar System. The planet is named after the Roman god of war, Mars. It is often described as the “Red Planet”, as the iron oxide prevalent on its surface gives it a reddish appearance.

Vedic astrology says, Mars is a planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features suggestive both of the impact craters of the Moon and the volcanoes, valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth.

Vedic astrologer said that the rotational period and seasonal cycles of Mars are likewise similar to those of Earth, as is the tilt that produces the seasons. The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 40% of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.

In 1965, Vedic astrology says about the presence of liquid water on the planet’s surface. This was based on observed periodic variations in light and dark patches, particularly in the polar latitudes, which appeared to be seas and continents; long, dark striations were interpreted by some as irrigation channels for liquid water.

Indian astrology narrates that the surface of Mars has undergone many changes due to volcanism, impacts from other bodies, movements of its crust, and atmospheric effects such as dust storms. The dust storms can reach tremendous proportions. Recent Hubble images have shown the whole surface of the planet covered with a massive dust storm. Polar ice caps are present on Mars. These ice caps increase and decrease in size depending on the season.

Indian astrology further told that Mars has some remarkable geological characteristics, including the largest volcanic mountain in the solar system, Olympus Mons (27 km high and 600 km across); volcanoes in the northern Tharsis region that are so huge they deform the planet’s roundness; and a gigantic equatorial rift valley, the Valles Marineris.

Indian astrology believes that Mars has two small moons, Phobos and Deimos. It is uncertain how they formed, but it is believed that they may be asteroids that have been snared by Mars’ gravity.

According to Indian astrology Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun in our solar system. It is a gas giant. It is also known as Jovian planet, after the planet Jupiter.

According to Indian astrology studies, Neptune is the first planet predicted through indirect observation and mathematical deduction, although it is observed as fixed star in 1612 and 1613. Indian astrology narrates that aberrations in the orbit of Uranus led French mathematician and Vedic astrologer to propose influence by an unknown planet whose mass and position would effect it. His proposals were ignored until Johann Gottfried Galle at the Berlin Observatory found Neptune the first night he began searching for it in 1846.

Indian astrology narrates that Neptune is approximately 4.5 billion kilometers from the Sun which it orbits once every 165 years. It is invisible to the unaided eye because of its distance.

Every 248 years, for a period of 20 years, the orbit of Pluto lies within the orbit of Neptune making Neptune the furthest of all planets.

Parameters for classification as a planet

Neptune is classified as a planet by the Indian astrology for meeting the following criteria:

* Orbits the Sun;

* Has mass sufficient for its gravity to form a nearly round shape;

* Has mass sufficient for gravity to clear a path in its orbit.

Rotational characteristics

Vedic astrology Neptune’s polar orientation is similar to Earth’s with the northern pole leaning toward or away from the Sun in season. The northern hemisphere summers and winters last approximately 40 years each. The variation in polar tilts and increased temperature may be a contributing factor to the winds on Neptune which reach velocities of about 2,000 k/h (1,240 m/h)[4]

Orbital characteristics

Indian astrology further narrates that Neptune has an orbital period of 164.79 earth years. At is closest approach to the Sun it is nearly 30 times the distance of the Earth from the Sun. At its furthest distance from the Sun (aphelion) it is 30.32 AU from the Sun

Indian astrology says about Saturn that it was the Roman name means the lord of the titans in Greek mythology. Saturn comes from the English world Saturday.

Physical Characteristics of the Planet Saturn

Indian astrology says that Saturn is made up of gases mostly of hydrogen and helium. Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system it is big enough to hold more than 760 Earths, and is more in weight than any other planet except Jupiter, 95 times bigger than Earth’s mass approximately. However, Saturn has the lowest density of all the planets, and is the only one less dense than water.

Indian astrology says that Saturn is the farther planet from Earth visible to the human eye. Saturn spins faster than any other planet except Jupiter, completing a rotation in every 10-and-a-half hours approximately.

Saturn Orbit & Rotation

Average Distance from the Sun

English: 885,904,700 miles

Metric: 1,426,725,400 km

By Comparison: 9.53707 times than that of Earth

English: 838,519,000 miles

Metric: 1,349,467,000 km

By Comparison: 9.177 times than that of Earth

Aphelion (farthest)

English: 934,530,000 miles

Metric: 1,503,983,000 km

By Comparison: 9.886 times than that of Earth

Saturn’s Moons

Indian astrology narrates that Saturn has at least 62 moons. Since the planet was named after Cronus, lord of the titans in Greek mythology, most of Saturn’s moons are named after other titans, their offspring, as well as after giants from Gallic, Inuit and Norse myths.

Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, is slightly larger than Mercury, and is the second-largest moon in the solar system behind. Indian astrology further narrates that Titan is disguised by a thick nitrogen filled atmosphere that perhaps like the Earth before a long ago.

Saturn’s Rings

According to Indian astrology Saturn rings were first discovered in 1610, although at that time it was thought something there resembled like handles or arms. Then later It was examined more closely that Saturn had a thin, flat ring.

According to Indian astrology, in real Saturn has many rings made of billions of particles of ice and rock, their size range is from size of a pea to the size of a building. The rings are extend thousands of miles from the planet, the main rings are typically only about 30 feet thick.

Indian astrology narrates that the rings are generally named alphabetically in the order they were discovered. They are usually relatively close to each other, with one key exception caused by the Cassini Division, a gap some 2,920 miles (4,700 kilometers) wide. The main rings, working out from the planet, are known as C, B and A, with the Cassini Division separating B and A. The innermost is the extremely faint D ring, while the outermost to date, revealed in 2009, could fit a billion Earths within it.

Saturn’s Gravitational Impact on the Solar System

As the most massive planet in the solar system after Jupiter as Indian astrology believes, the pull of Saturn’s gravity has helped shape the fate of our system. It might have helped violently hurl Neptune and Uranus outward. It, along with Jupiter, might a lot have slung a barrage of debris toward the inner planets early in the system’s history.

Indian astrology studies about Uranus and narrating its specifications. Uranus is the seventh planet of the solar system, discovered in 1781, who initially took it for a comet. It had already been observed by John Flamsteed and included on one of his star maps, but Flamsteed worked on it and taken it as a star; it was not until Herschel measured the object’s motion more accurately that he was able to determine its true nature; he also identified two satellites, Titania and Oberon.

According to Indian astrology Uranus was the first new planet to be added to the complement known to the ancients, although talk of ‘‘the seven planets’’ had earlier been commonplace because the Sun and Moon were routinely counted in that company while the Earth was not. The discovery was celebrated in the pseudonymous political spoof, A Journey Lately Performed through the Air, in an Air Balloon, from this Terraqueous Globe to the Newly Discovered Planet.

Indian astrology says that Uranus’ diameter is less than half Saturn’s, but it is known as gas giant, although some theorists have suggested that it might have a solid silicate core covered by a deep liquid layer.

Physical characteristics

According to Indian astrology Uranus’s distance from the sun is about nineteen and a half times that of earth, has a volume 63.1 times the volume of the Earth a diameter of 1.60592 x 105 km and with a mass fourteen times that of Earth, is the lightest of the outer planets. It has a smaller surface gravity, about 86% of Earth’s.

It has a much colder core than the other gas giants and radiates very little heat into space.

Indian astrology says that Uranus has no solid surface. 80% percent or more of Uranus is an extended liquid core of icy materials composed of water, ammonia and methane and higher density materials beneath.

Indian astrology narrates about its atmosphere is composed of mainly of hydrogen and helium and has a temperature of about -216 °C. Its atmosphere has small amounts of methane, water and ammonia. Uranus gets its blue-green color from a combination of light absorbed by the methane layer and light reflected by clouds beneath the methane. The sunlight passes through the methane, is then reflected by the clouds back through the methane layer where the red light portion of the spectrum is absorbed leaving only the blue-green spectrum to pass through, making the atmosphere appear blue-green.

Rotational characteristics

Indian astrology narrates Uranus Uniqueness among the planets, it orbits the Sun on its side with the poles pointing in the axial plane almost directly at the sun in the orbital plane; its axial tilt is over ninety degrees to the ecliptic.

According to Indian astrology Venus, ruler of Libra and Taurus, Venus is the planet that relates with inspiration, accord female energy. Venus gives us all energy, important sense to balance, by choosing the right diet for us any by awareing us with health issues.

Indian astrology believes that Venus is discriminatory and belongs to aesthetics and the arts. Venus becomes activated when we feel that our body needs exercise and diet to maintain our body and ourselves also is evident in social interaction and relationships

Indian astrology narrates that the want of extended our personalities for the purpose of encouragement of ourselves and for anyone else spiritual growth. Mars gives and Venus receives. It’s just like give and take or we also can say reaction of action.

Indian astrology says when it is in its sleeping state; Venus can be lazy, slow-moving, vain and distant with appearance. She appears to be submissive and lifeless, unable to make changes and positive steps forward. It’s just like a woman who is lying on sofa having a big chocolate in her hands and watching TV for long time having remote in her hands.

When it is in her moving state, Indian astrology believes that Venus is aware of art and has critical judgment and an innate sense of style and beauty. She is selective and enjoys good food and wine. She interacts socially with charm and ease.

In her awakening state, Indian astrology believes, Venus becomes the comforting, with total consciousness of harmony and balance between the mind, body and spirit. She has power to achieve with easiness and grace and the perfect harmony of color shape and form can be seen in the greatest works of art, which have the ability to uplift the spirit.

According to Indian astrology the Pluto rules the zodiac. Scorpio, ruled by Pluto (and traditionally Mars).

Indian astrology says that Pluto is one of the three planets that are outer transpersonal and is just like Neptune and Uranus that have a long cycle, so it takes many years to pass through a sign. As a result it affects an entire generation.

This planet, small in physical size, on the other hand represents some powerful forces.

Indian astrology doesn’t talk about lightweight here. Think of the times in your life when you have faced crises, death, control freaks, and those times when the bottom has fallen out of your world.

Indian astrology believes that it’s quite often that they match with the times that your Pluto has been activated, or transiting Pluto has contacted one of your planets, likely to be the Sun, Moon and/or Saturn.

Pluto in its unprocessed state shows that there could be misuse of power and oppression. We can also see it in the extremes of pornography, which is a world away from mutual love and relating.

In the next state, Pluto shows absolute drive and fascination towards achieving goals. It’s very enthusiastic.

Nothing stands in the way of this, and a total force of will can be used for good or not so good.

There is also a karmic element; the seemingly cruel lessons of fate necessary to balance the light and shadow. And then ultimately according to Indian astrology, we have triumph over horrendous adversity, an opportunity for healing and transforming that can only come through a long process of inner vision and self discovery.

This is one of the three planets that is beyond our ability to ‘use’ but its power enters our lives, and ultimately represents hidden riches through the lessons learned in its presence.

Indian astrology says that Jupiter is a giant; the largest planet in our solar system and is not related to anything that is on small scale. There is no meanness with Jupiter; it is all-encompassing and about growth and abundance, the opportunity for expanding our horizons.

As with many things, too much of a good thing maybe just that so Saturn make us restricted to do anything with certain limitations and just not to rise them beyond expectations. Jupiter is about intelligence and learning through experience.

Indian astrology finds own truths and not the reiterate vision through someone else understanding.

Jupiter’s position in your birth chart gives hints to where you can push the limitations and create plenty in your life.

In its natural (or unconscious) state Jupiter gives the ability to enjoy and maybe a sense of superiority coming from overconfidence and belief in your own greatness.

Indian astrology believes that there is even a feeling of self-importance, sometimes seen in those at the top of the legal profession. Some of those people may actually believe they are above the law they seek to uphold and the same can be seen in politics and then a more developed Jupiter begins to refine and define the nature of truth and philosophy, and create the spirit of the Law, the truths and higher ideals that bring the moral judgment that attempts to keep a civilized society in some semblance of order.

In its highest state, Indian astrology says, Jupiter brings clarity and fairness of judgment and a sense of being linked to spiritual or natural law.

Indian astrology says that this is nothing to do with intellect and cuts across the social division of society. There is a development of trust in a guiding power that is beneficial and creative, and from around the age of 48 we become aware of this in our lives, and not as a result of what we have been told by others.

According to Indian astrology, the strength and the warmth of the Sun can be feel by us, and sometimes we need to protect against its damaging rays, its rays are sometimes dangerous for us as they are damaging rays and leaving bad effect on our skins. Especially in the last few years as we have started to mess up the delicate balance of nature. And this is the time when the power of the individual is recognized more than ever before, in lifestyles, fashion, personal growth therapies etc.

Indian astrology says that The Sun in the zodiac is how we define or express our personalities. Anybody with Scorpio or Capricorn etc. Sun is the planet on which it depends of your shine and of strongest characteristics.

Indian astrology says further that The Sun is the Ruler of the sign of Leo, that given the title of king of jungle, which is a need to perform in front of an appreciative crowd, and a need to show off, to be recognized.

When we are smaller we have no problem expressing our wants and needs and personality, but society demands that we mature and tone down our natural exuberance.

When we are kids it’s very easy for us to express ourselves and our needs, but slowly its demand of nature and society that we grown up and tone down.

Consequently, Indian astrology says that some of us have a Sun that is asleep. If you are afraid of putting yourself forward, of hiding in the background and hiding your light under a bushel, of following the crowd because you believe the crowd knows best, then you may not be using your Sun’s power.

Indian astrology further narrates that the Sun in you is waking up. It’s okay to be different and not like everyone else. You begin to value yourself and others begin to value you too. You earn self respect.

And then, you find that you can achieve your goals through the focus and direction of your willpower (or sun power). Indian astrology The Sun is the driver of your psychic engine if you like. You can use that power to exert your Mars power and Venus power and Mercury power.

Those people who achieve recognition and success have total self belief and faith in their direction. Perhaps they have talent to, but they have learnt to use their skills and develop them.

According to Indian astrology Mercury, ruler of both Gemini and Virgo the Third and Sixth Houses, is about, above all else, communication. We communicate through eye contact, speech, body language, telepathy etc. but however we do it; it is our link and connection with our fellow humans (and animals).

It is believed that there was time, before sophisticated speech was developed; communication was about warning of approaching danger and as a means of marking out territory. This is still much in evidence in the world of birds and animals. Bees communicate by dancing!

Indian astrology says that Mercury is concerned with how we process information collected from our environment and relay it outwards.

In its sleeping state, Indian astrology believes that this becomes natural; we are picking up hints from our environment all the time, sometimes subliminally and we react and act accordingly.

Indian astrology narrates that, Mercury is associated with our earliest education at school, where lessons and information is based on receiving facts. Someone with strong Mercury may have a need to speak without much thought to what is being said so we get clever sound bites and word play.

In its awakening state, Indian astrology believes that Mercury is concerned with the ins and outs of language, intellect and the use of selection and discrimination (where we can see the connection to Virgo). It is able to select detail and home in on the smallest pieces of information which make up the whole picture.

In its highest form, Mercury becomes a powerful tool in communicating the truth and beauty of language and literature.

Indian astrology further narrates that, Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and here we see the non-verbal communication through the so-called sixth sense, the highly adjusted ability to collect data from the subtlest sources.
